In September 2018, the Boston Medical Center for the Urban Child and Healthy Family convened a group of inter-disciplinary thought leaders with a vested interest in creating trauma informed spaces across a variety of sectors. This group was tasked with generating a list of actionable recommendations for pediatric practitioners on how to be more trauma informed in their daily practice.

This fact sheet offers specific examples of how pediatricians can embrace trauma-informed care by adopting its five principles: (1) safety; (2) transparency and trustworthiness; (3) choice; (4) collaboration and mutuality; and (5) empowerment.
